What does oxidation and cellular aging imply in dogs?

Oxidation and cellular aging in dogs are closely related biological processes that have an impact on health and well-being.

Consequences of Oxidation and Cellular Aging in Dogs and Cats

  • Chronic diseases: The accumulation of oxidative damage over time can increase the risk of developing health problems that can become chronic, such as arthritis, heart disorders, diabetes, and cancer.
  • Cognitive impairment: Cellular oxidation can also be related to cognitive decline. Free radicals can damage brain cells and contribute to the loss of cognitive functions, such as memory and decision-making, as well as behavioural changes.

  • Reduction in immune function: Oxidative stress can weaken the pet’s immune system, making them more susceptible to infections and diseases.
  • Skin and coat problems: Cellular oxidation contributes to problems such as dry skin, excessive hair loss, and premature skin aging.

To mitigate the effects on our pets and promote healthy aging, it is important to take preventive measures. That’s why we recommend regular visits to the veterinarian. Regular check-ups are essential for detecting health problems in early stages and providing appropriate treatment.
